CHSLD Dante Extension

Montreal, 2009

This project explores the possibility of adding a new long-term health care pavilion at the DanteWelcomeCenter. Detailing all the parameters of the work, the study aims to rally all the decision-making bodies and the community around a single visionary and realisable project. Aside from the need to increase the number of residents, the project presents some other challenges, including a required connection with the hospital, the unification of food services, as well as the addition of loading docks and underground parking. The tripartite massing fits in with the plan and fragments the edifice so as to echo the residential neighbourhood. The white brick cladding of the main pavilion integrates with the existing complex and the insertion of stained glass enriches the existing collection.
