Montreal, 2004

Located at the corner of Saint-Catherine and Sanguinet, the project was intended to house the COOP UQAM university store and administrative offices. It announces its presence by using contemporary and innovative construction. Marked by the strong presence of the J.-A.-DeSèveBuilding, the sector stands out due to its conglomeration of various construction typologies and size. The project acts in collusion with its surroundings, amalgamating the attributes of each neighbour into a particular and coherent entity. The alternate planes of glass and stone create a play between opacity and transparency, sculpting an unusual volume that suits the area elegantly and pertinently. Unfortunately, the project was abandoned because of UQAM’s real estate crisis.
