Earth Sciences and Quality Control Pavilion

Agri-food Technopark, Qujing, China, Constellation Monde, 2012

Stemming from two different programmes, the earth sciences pavilion (8,200 m²) and that of quality control (9,800 m²) were merged into a single building in order to take advantage of a functional fusion. The first group of laboratories offers consultations and analysis pertaining to soils (fertilisation, parasite screening, raising beneficial insects, water management, etc.) while a second one is concentrated on services of analysis, validation and certification of processed products (food, cosmetics, pharmaceutics), and an additional section dedicated to marketing. Impressive for its dimension – it holds a kilometre of laboratory equipment – the building expresses the Chinese state’s investment in quality control. Partnering architect: ARCOP
